Project: Donnewald disributing
Location: Greenville, IL
Project Type: New Construction
Size: 154,000 sq. ft.
Overview: Mike Donnewald at Donnewald Distributing had an ambitious goal to become energy independent. He also knew there were ways to cut costs and make beer and beverage sales, warehousing and distributions operations more efficient. The energy initiative drew the attention and support of local government, and an opportunity to collaborate with multipe city, county, and state agencies.
Project Highlights: Combined three buildings into one, more efficient facility with 154,000 square feet of new construction. Installed a state-of-the-art geo thermal heating and cooling system, with a newly constructed 5-acre lake, which provides 100% of the facility’s climate control needs. The new facility showcases Donnewald thought leadership in energy management and sustainability, while saving the cost of bringing natural gas to the site. ThermoMass® insulated cast-in-place concrete walls eliminated the cost of transporting panels to the site and used local materials and labor for a more environmentally-friendly approach.
